ABOUT THE COURSE This program has been approved for 24 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval. PROGRAM NUMBER: 911798.
The course Canine soft tissue surgery will provide an overview of several very common soft tissue surgical procedures in dogs. The course should be of interest to any veterinarian wishing to improve his or her comfort level with common soft tissue surgeries. For all diseases discussed, I will provide a brief overview of pathophysiology, diagnostic evaluation, indications for surgery, aftercare and prognosis.
The course will include an overview the spay-neuter controversy –that is, the emerging information concerning health– and behavior-related risks and benefits of routine spaying and neutering in dogs and cats. This is a topic that should be of interest to all small animal veterinarians, and that should be considered in all discussions of spaying and neutering with dog and cat owners. It is a rapidly evolving area that will likely continue to gain importance to the animal-owning public.
The course has 3 unique aspects:
First, all surgical techniques will be demonstrated using narrated videos of actual clinical cases, providing a level of guidance that simply cannot be provided by drawings, still photographs or text-based descriptions.
Second, the course will be interactive: once logged on to the Quadam website, in addition to watching the course material, you will be able to send me questions or ask for advice on your own cases, and I will respond within a relatively short period of time.
Third, you can take the course at your preferred time and place. Each of the 6 lessons in the course will be available for 1 week, and you can watch the lesson any time during that week, 24/7. If you are traveling and have a cell phone, pad or laptop and wifi access, you can watch from any location. You will be able to watch full lessons in their entirety, or watch them a bit at a time – whatever best fits your schedule.
I’m looking forward to seeing you on the Quadam site!
