At the end of this series of lectures, I hope that the veterinarian will be able to:
1. Understand the basics of horse behaviour and how the horse has evolved until current times.
2. Understand how the behavioural needs of a horse influence horse welfare
3. Take a detailed behavioural history.
4. Ascertain if a behaviour is normal or abnormal and if abnormal whether the behaviour itself is adaptive or pathological.
5. Understand the role of learning in the development of behaviour problems
6. Be able to implement a basic treatment plan to prevent further worsening of an existing behaviour problem.
7. Be able to understand, demonstrate and explain basic behaviour modification techniques to others.
8. Understand basic neurobiological concepts and how the brain can be influenced by psychopharmacological and other interventions to facilitate desirable behaviour change.
9. Know when to refer to a horse behaviourist or equine veterinary behaviour specialist.

Week 2. Horse Communication & Learning.
Week 3. Horse Domestication, Repetitive Movement Disorders, Welfare and Environmental Management.
Week 4. Diagnosing behaviour problems.
Week 5. Treating behaviour problems.
Week 6. Neurobiology.
Week 7. Psychopharmacology.
Week 8. Case presentations.
