Dr. Patrick Hensel is a 1996 graduate of the College of Veterinary medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland. Between 1997-2001 he completed a doctorate thesis and rotating Small Animal Internship at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zürich, Switzerland. In 2004, he completed a residency in veterinary dermatology at the University of Georgia and was awarded Diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in the same year. Thereafter Dr. Hensel served as an instructor and Assistant Professor of Veterinary Dermatology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia from 2004, and was promoted and tenured to Associate Professor in 2010. As a professor his responsibilities included student and residency training, clinical service, and clinical research. In 2014 Dr. Hensel decided to move back to Switzerland and is opening the first practice exclusively dedicated to Veterinary Dermatology in Basel, Switzerland. His main research interests include: Atopy and allergy testing, food adverse reactions, parasitic and infectious diseases.
